After two games in charge, and six points on the board, it is safe to say Jose Mourinho couldn’t have dreamt of a better start to life in Rome. The former Real Madrid manager is widely considered as one of the greatest football managers ever. However, after getting fired by Tottenham, Mourinho had hit a new low. Being the manager of Tottenham was the “worst Job” he has had in his career for at least 17 years.
Getting fired by such a club amplified Mourinho’s decline in the past half a decade. This Roma job somehow feels like a lifeline for Jose Mourinho, and boy has he grabbed it with both hands. The camp seems happy, Jose seems happy, and they’re playing some brilliant football at the moment.
His first Serie A game wasn’t an easy one on paper as he had to come up against Italiano’s Fiorentina. However, the tides quickly turned in his favor as Dragowski of Fiorentina got sent off for a foul on Tammy Abraham. Roma went on to win the game 3-1 despite having a man sent off as well.
Their second game was a much easier one. The capital City club were up against newly promoted Salernitana. Jose’s men showed superiority in every facet of the game as they limited Salernitana to zero shots on target. Roma scored four goals on the night, one of which was a first goal in Roma colors for Tammy Abraham. The end may still be far away, but the Special One, Mourinho has introduced himself to the Olympico faithful in such an endearing manner.
